Cambodia Boosts Vocational Training for Youth with New Partnership

Phnom Penh, March 27, 2024 – In a step towards enhancing vocational and technical training for Cambodia's youth was taken with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC). The ceremony, held at The Kampus building on the afternoon of March 26, 2024, was presided over by Hun Many, President of the UYFC, and Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, alongside their colleagues.

This collaboration is set to bolster the dissemination of vocational and technical training opportunities, particularly targeting young people from poor and vulnerable families, aiding in their registration for job searches and providing career guidance.

Hun Many expressed gratitude towards the Ministry for partnering with the UYFC to empower Cambodia's youth with essential skills and job opportunities. He highlighted the UYFC’s commitment to continuing the legacy of the previous generation by enabling young Cambodians across the nation to contribute to the country's development through solidarity and collective effort.

Heng Sour remarked on the strategic significance of partnering with the UYFC, citing its extensive reach and influence across the country, which is expected to yield high results in promoting vocational training programs. He emphasized that the MoU would facilitate job registration and access to information about job opportunities provided by the Ministry for UYFC members and the broader youth population.

The UYFC, an organization with deep roots in Cambodian youth movements since its establishment on December 2, 1978, has a widespread structure across the nation. This new partnership is poised to transform UYFC’s provincial headquarters into hubs where young people can access valuable information, securing tangible opportunities and skills for their futures.

This initiative underscores Cambodia’s dedication to empowering its young population, equipping them with the skills needed to navigate the job market successfully, and contributing to the nation's ongoing development.
